Ranka Lee Photoshoot #2

Hello again everyone!☆

Yesterday I received the last pictures of the cosplay photoshoot I had and without anymore blabbering, here are the rest of the pictures!

This is probably my favorite picture of the shoot!

My face is quite awkward in this one, but I like the movement in this picture a lot.

And then a couple of behind the scenes photos!

In this one I fell down while twirling and I'm trying to wipe the sand off my hands--

So that's all for now! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post! See you☆

How to Find Good Circle Lens for Light Eyes☆

Hello beautiful people!

This is actually another post I have wanted to write for a long time. I don't think I'm the only person with light eyes who's had trouble with this subject, since circle lenses come from Korea, they are naturally designed for brown eyes instead of Caucasian light ones. Most common problems for light eyes and circle lenses are the color of your natural eyes showing through the lens and making the color distorted or hardly visible, and the pupil "hole" being too big so that the light color of your eyes shows too much. Since most Asians have quite dark eyes, when the natural color shows from the hole from afar it looks like an extension to your pupil, but this effect does not work with light eyes.

The first tip for searching for the perfect lenses (or at least what I do): search the lenses you want from a popular site with lots of customer photos (the more customer photos the more likely you will find one with a light eyed person wearing the lenses you want), and then find the place that sells the same lenses for the cheapest! I have found this to be a really good way to really know what I'm buying. And the other thing you might want to look for is reviews, and if you get lucky, you might find one made by a person with the same colored eyes as you! So just do a lot of research to really find out what you are actually buying, this way you will spare yourself of bad purchases and money loss! Really good sites to find the perfect lenses are PinkyParadise and Uniqso! I can't really recommend any "cheap" circle lens stores, since I go around a lot of stores to find the cheapest ones, and the store almost always changes.. But good circle lens shops in my opinion are HoneyColor, Candylens and Lensvillage,

I have spent countless hours looking for the perfect lenses for my cosplays and everyday use too, and I have found a few really good tips to look for when choosing circle lens, and now I want to share the information I've gathered with you all! Naturally, this is just my opinion with how I want my lenses to look, and you might like a different look and it's completely fine! But I hope people will find this post helpful!

THINGS TO LOOK WHEN SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT CIRCLE LENSES

1. Pupil "hole" size
(sorry for my crappy drawings)
Like I mentioned above, with light eyes you don't get the pupil enlargement effect, but instead you get an awkward looking light circle around your pupil.. This is why I would recommend to always look for lenses with a small center "hole" to minimize the pupil "halo" effect. Of course your natural color will show through the hole no matter what lenses you wear (especially in the light since your pupils get smaller in hard light), but with small holed lens, you can really make a difference in your look!

2. Go for blended center instead of harsh
This is another thing that might help you to line out the circle lenses to check on! A colored lens that blends into your natural color is always more natural for light eyes and this is why I recommend them. This also helps to minimize the pupil "halo" effect I mentioned earlier.

3. Lens opacity
This is sort of a preference thing, but especially cosplayers usually want the lens color to be very opaque and vibrant, so that's why I would recommend you to choose opaque lenses. But if you are going for a natural look, translucent ones might be more your thing! But for natural looks I would recommend you to get lenses which have a color close to your natural eye color to really make them almost non visible.

But of course, sometimes you may not find lenses that meet all these criteria and are good for the look you want, and you will just have to go for the best option! I rarely find the perfect lenses or good pictures of the lenses I want in light eyes, but since I have done so much research in finding good lenses and I have experience in it, I can usually imagine what the lenses would look in my light eyes, and that way most likely make a good purchase. So the best advice I can give you is: Do a lot of research to find the perfect lenses for your purpose! Don't give up and just choose a random pair! But this is just my opinion again-- I'm really picky in lenses and stingy with my money, so I will do anything to spare myself from bad purchases.

But now I will recommend a few lens brands I have found very good for light eyes!

FOR A DOLLY LOOK: Princess Mimi series
Princess Mimi Chocolate Brown↑
Princess Mimi Sesame Grey↑

These are the only lenses of this series that I've tried, but I just love how well they blend in with my eyes! Especially the brown ones, since it's really, really hard to find chocolate brown lenses that look good on light eyes, but these are just perfect! I have also read a lot of light eyed peoples reviews of the Green lenses in this series and would like to try them on some day!

FOR A NATURAL LOOK: Geo Nudy series
Geo Nudy Blue↑

I have had these lenses also in green and in normal light they look super natural, like I'm not wearing any lenses at all! But of course in bright light your pupil get smaller and you will get a small halo effect, because of the harsh pupil hole. But despite that I love this series of lenses!

FOR COSPLAY: Super Pinky- and Dolly Eye Series
Super Pinky Bright Red↑

Dolly Eye Blue↑

Unfortunately I don't have the Dolly Eye lenses anymore, but they are perfect for cosplay! Vibrant and opaque, although a little too heavy for my preferance. I prefer wearing "lighter" lenses since I think they suit my eyes better, and for that the Super Pinky series is perfect! The center blends a little and the color is super vibrant! Also I find the diameter perfect for my eyes! I have only used these red ones, but I just love them and can't wait to try others from this series!

---

But that's all for now! Thank you for reading and I hope you find this little "guide" helpful, since this is a subject I have struggled with a lot in the past. I really want to help people and teach them things I have learned from experience (like the skin post I did), since it makes me feel really good when someone says that my tips have helped them (selfish, I know). But anyway, thanks again and see you again soon!☆

Ranka Lee Photoshoot #1

Hello everyone!☆

The weekend before last weekend I was at Animecon 2015 in Kuopio and on saturday I was reusing my nurse Ranka Lee cosplay from Macross Frontier! The main reason I put the cosplay on was, that one of my dearest friends actually studies photography and media and is always looking forward to  using her skills as a photographer in cosplay photoshoots. We had been planning this photoshoot for a while and the results are really amazing thanks to her skills! This is part one of the pictures. The cosplay was about 85% handmade by me, only the apron, wig and the base of the shoes and socks were bought and I'm quite proud of this cosplay! Usually my mom has been helping with my cosplays, but this was the first one I did completely by myself! This was also my first time ever making wings or anything like that, so I'm pretty pleased☆ But onto the pictures now:

(you can see my hat falling off in this one--)

And here's a few behind the scenes-pictures! Thank you so much Milla and Emma for assisting in the photoshoot!(*´▽`*)

So, a little info about the cosplay: The wig, socks and apron are from ebay, base shoes are thrifted, and the wings are made of EVA foam/craft foam! I'm also wearing two petti skirts, one from ebay and one I made myself,  The cosplay was really fun to wear and without the shoes and the wings, it's quite comfortable too! I think I will be wearing this cosplay again sometime☆

And thank you so much Perunaprinssi for being my photographer! ;;; please visit her protfolio, she's amazing!

Oh and here's my model picture for the cosplay and a selfie were you can see my makeup better! Thank you for reading and stay tuned for the second part of this photoshoot!☆

(oh and I know the wig is too dark, but Ranka normally has darker green hair, and I already had this wig and didn't want to order a new one--)

Style Inspiration Part #1 Rinalee☆

Hello beautiful people!

This post will be the beginning of a sort off blog post "series", where I will write about my biggest inspirations and why they inspire me. I will do these posts whenever I feel like it, but there will probably come a lot of these, since I love many many styles, and naturally many different people inspire me a lot. So let's start with my most favorite streetsnap girl EVER☆

R I N A L E E

Rinalee is kind of a mystery to me; I know literally nothing about her, since I can't read Japanese and there isn't any translated info about her online. But one thing I do know, is that her style is just so amazing! I love pastel colors, but I also love the kind of dark "rokku" style, and she is just a perfect mix of those two things.

The thing I especially love about Rinalee's style, is the accessorizing. She always has amazing and peculiar handbags and the overall accessorizing of her coords is subtle, but striking. She has an amazing ability to coordinate somewhat hard to wear-accessories with cute, simple outfits and make them work together perfectly. I really envy that about her, because accessorizing is the thing I struggle with the most...

Her style is also wonderfully girly and sweet, without being overly cute and sugary and she manages to look sort of "tough" (in a good way), while still looking amazingly cute. Also the variety of her styles and looks is amazing! If I had the resources and money to dress how I want to dress, I would love to have a similar style to hers.. This is what a perfect style looks like to me; sweet, but tough, like marshmallows and salmiakki!☆

Recent ebay purchases☆

Hello everyone!

Ever since I figured how to combine my bank account with paypal, I've been going down a very slippery slope... Like many other people I love ordering things from internet, and what would be better than ebay, since you can find amazing things for a small price! So I've ordered quite a bit of stuff and thought I'd make a sort of 'loot' blogpost with what I have bought☆ Just a warning, this post is gonna be a little picture heavy!

So here's all the things! As you may see, I've already used some of the products, since for example, I have had the Baby Choux primer for over a month now-- Now let's continue on to the short reviews!

Dolly Wink No. 2 - Sweet Girly false eyelashes! I'm a pretty cheap person to be honest, so I hardly ever have the balls to buy genuine Dolly Winks (I prefer ordering those 3$/5 pairs type of lashes). But I've owned one package of Dolly Winks before, and I have to say; they really are worth the ~12$! Dolly Winks are always so soft and very durable! I've had my first Dolly Winks for like 5 years and they're still in a relatively good quality, especially since I rarely use falsies. I've wanted to try the No. 2 lashes for a while now, so I decided to pamper myself after making some money at a facebook cosplay fleemarket.
Off-brand Cherry hair bow! I love the use of cherries in fashion, so I just had to order one of these for those days when I feel like looking cute! The quality of it is pretty good, but I can't expect high quality for something I payed 1€ for-- so the cheap prize shows, but I don't mind it!
Yin Yang Choker! I love chokers and rarely use any kind of other jewelry, so I wanted to add a new choker to my collection (of one other choker)! The quality is very good considering I payed 80 cents for it and I really love the design!
ETUDE HOUSE Baby Choux Base in Mint Choux! I'm very pale so naturally any redness on my face looks ten times worse than if I was tanned.. But this product solved my problem! Etude House is one of my favorite makeup brands, because of the good quality and cheap prize, so I decided to see if they had a green tinted primer. And they did! This primer smells amazing and really helps to cover any redness from my face! It's amazing how good this product is, considering it cost me ~8€. 10/10 would recommend!
ETUDE HOUSE Cupcake All Over Color in Strawberry Chiffon Cake! I wanted to get a cream blush and ended up going with Etude House again, because of the cheap price! (Also I'm weak for super cute packaging--) And this product smells so amazing..! The scent reminds me off strawberry ice cream and I just love it! The color is a lovely pink and even though this product is sort of a 'tint' (you can use it as lipstick or eyeshadow too) it really works very well as a blush! The pigment is nice, but nothing too bright and you can really build layers of it up to get the color and pigment you want. As a lip color it doesn't really suit me though, but I don't care since I ordered it for a blush! This product cost about 7€ so again, very cheap!
ETUDE HOUSE Styling Eyeliner in Black! This was actually an accidental purchase-- I was looking for a thin liquid eyeliner for a cheap prize and went with Etude House, but unfortunately the packaging of this product is so so similar to their liquid eyeliner! So I accidentally bought a pencil type eyeliner.. I didn't really mind, because this was only a little over 3€ and since I use a pencil eyeliner to fill in my waterline anyway, this product came handy after all!
CANMAKE Four Shiny Eyes eyeshadow in Mandarin Chocolat! This is something I've wanted for ages! I looove anything glittery and sparkly and nothing that I know is sparklier than CANMAKE's eyeshadows! But since I am very stingy with my own money, I've never dared to buy one of their palettes... But since I made some money selling stuff on facebook, I really wanted to treat myself with one of their palettes finally! They're not even too expensive (this was about 13€) but like I said, I'm stingy-- But I absolutely loooove this palette and can't wait to buy more CANMAKE products!
ETUDE HOUSE Tear Drop liner in #1 White Tear! Like I said, I love glitter and have been really looking for a nice glitter eyeliner to use to highlight the inner corners of my eyes and this product is just perfect! It has fine little glitter particles in it that sparkle so magically when light hits them! This is definitely one of my favorite makeup products right now!

Lower Eyelash-falsies assortment! I was so amazed when I was browsing falsies on ebay and ran into this! This is one of the best things I've seen and an essential every cosplayer could use! It has 10 pairs of lower false eyelashes and each pair is different which is perfect for achieving the correct eyeshape and look for cosplays, since for some cosplays you might need natural ones, and for some spiky ones for example. This cost only 3$ which is amazingly cheap! I haven't yet used these, but they feel nice and soft!
So that's all of my spendings for now! Hope you enjoyed reading this post and if you have something to ask, please comment below this post!
